Meet the McKinleys! Rich, Christy, and daughter Aleda live on Minerva Lake Rd.

Rich and Christy weren’t familiar with Minerva Park while house hunting in 2011 but found their perfect house and love living near the community building.

Rich is originally from Utica, OH and grew up on a dairy farm that his family still owns and operates. He came to Columbus to attend Columbus College of Art & Design and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fine Art. He is a sculptor at Optic Nerve Art.

Christy grew up near Clintonville and has earned degrees from Capital University (Exercise Science), Ashland University (BSN) and Otterbein (FNP). She is a Nurse Practitioner in the Interventional Radiology department at OSU’s Wexner Medical Center.

Rich and Christy met through a mutual friend, hit it off on their first date and will celebrate 15 years of marriage this September!

The McKinleys love living in Minerva Park for so many reasons but especially because of all the neighbors who have become friends. Christy enjoys helping to put on large street parties with neighbors that have themes like Christmas in July when everyone is dressed for the holidays and celebrates with traditional foods. They also love being so close to the schools, the pool, the wildlife (including their own chickens!) and events like Arts in the Park. Rich creates beautiful ceramics using his home kiln and together with Christy they sell their art as Pink Dragon Studio. You can find them yearly at the MPCA event along with other events in the area.  Follow their page on Facebook and be sure to stop by to say hi!

Fun facts about our neighbors. Rich has a kiln in his basement and brews beer in their garage! He especially enjoys stouts and porters. Christy volunteered for many years at the Flying Horse Farms, a medical specialty camp. She has also been involved with Aleda in Girls Scouts for the last 2 years and enjoys encouraging children through group activities.
