Meet Your Neighbor - October

Zac and Katelynn Martin live on Wolfbirch Drive with their kids: Caleb (4th grade), Will (2nd grade), and Hadley (preschool). Zac grew up in St. Marys, Ohio and Katelynn is from Columbus. They met at Ohio University when they were in the same student ministry. Katelynn studied journalism and now she is a grant writer. Zac studied accounting and now he is the Director of Accounting for Heinzerling Community, a home for people with developmental disabilities. Before moving to Minerva Park, the couple lived in Forest Park where they had Caleb and Will. Wanting to focus more on their growing family and less on home repairs, the Martins decided to build their current home in Minerva Park. They were drawn to the diverse neighborhood, a priority for them since they’d soon become foster parents and wanted any kids to feel they belonged. Theirs was one of the first homes built in their section of the M/I homes. They remembered that it was fun watching new homes be constructed and welcoming the new neighbors. It was difficult to get to know their neighbors, as those were the early days of the pandemic, but they have since made strong connections with their neighbors.  Zac and Katelynn like the lakes, the walking trails and sidewalks, and how living near the playground allows their kids to play independently with other kids.

The Martins are an active family. The kids are involved in gymnastics, soccer, and hockey. They also like to play board games, rollerblade, play in the creek and tunnel, and meet up with friends at the playground. Zac has ridden Pelotonia in years past, and he’s currently training for a half marathon. Katelynn likes to tell people that she became a grandparent in her thirties. How, you ask? They fostered a teen and her baby. They’ve been foster parents for over 6 years, welcoming several children and teens into their home. The Martins love meeting new neighbors. Introduce yourself!
