Meet Your Neighbor - November

Meet Alex Humphries and Abby Walouke. Abby and Alex moved into their home on Woodley Road in June of 2025. Abby and Alex live next door to Alex’s brother, Connor, and his family. Actually, they share a driveway. Just how did that happen? Connor was close with his previous neighbors, “the Jens”, so when they said they were going to move, Connor asked them not to list the house but to sell it to his brother. They agreed, and now they’re neighbors!

Alex grew up in Lewis Center. Abby grew up in Worthington and then Cincinnati. In college, Alex studied computer science and engineering, and Abby studied fine arts with a focus in art and technology. Alex is a software engineer, and Abby is an animator and freelance illustrator. The couple met through mutual friends in a college Bible study. Abby recalls a story that Alex’s friends told about when they all went out to a steakhouse together and he surprised them by paying for the whole group. Abby was heartwarmed at Alex’s generosity and wanted to get to know him better. They married on October 7, 2023. 

The couple’s first home was on OSU’s campus. They liked living in Columbus, but they wanted to live somewhere where their neighbors would be more established and friendly; somewhere like Minerva Park. Abby and Alex share that the neighbors are even more welcoming than they had hoped. They’ve met many people at the Sip & Dip events in the summer and the new Front Yard Happy Hours that have been popping up around the neighborhood this fall. Abby and Alex think that Minerva Park is perfect for them: unique homes, close to everything Columbus has to offer, part of Westerville schools, and full of families of all ages. 

In their spare time, they spend lots of time with family. They are active in their church and enjoy babysitting their niece and other children in their Bible study. Abby also leads a junior high Bible study, where she’s mentored tween and teen girls for almost a decade. Alex enjoys games of all sorts: video games, card games, and board games. Abby likes arts and crafts and all things fall, Halloween, and horror. Abby and Alex both like to read and love doting on their kitties, Agnes and Beatrice. Abby and Alex love meeting new neighbors.
